Artist Statement
As a teenager who is living in Iran there are many reasons for me to love my country ; art, food, culture, sightseeing and even the language. Although Iran is a really beautiful place, there are still limitations to the freedoms of expression. These things can be very frustrating for me as a teenager and for others. My intention is to fuse these two conflicting feelings about my country by creating digital photographs to express these personal reflections and perspectives.
In my two very first photos I chose a woman as my main character because there is a lot of pressure on women in my country. However, they still fight and pursue their desires to succeed. In my other photos, I overlay beauty that exists in my rich yet complex Iranian culture.
