Artist Bio
My name is Paige and I am currently in grade 10 at Havergal College. I recently turned 16 and got my driver's license! Although the pandemic had closed many doors for me, I have still managed to fill my time with exercise, reading, and working part time. This was my second time taking a photography class and I found it super fun. I really like how photography is different from most of the other things I am involved in. I enjoy all types of photography but focused mostly on staged photography for this project.

When our class decided to make our exhibition theme “Growing Pains,” I knew that I wanted to focus on how growing up in the 21st century makes me feel. 2020 and 2021 have been and continue to be years of change and growth for myself. This past year has been a pivotal moment in my life, and through photographs, I want to capture moments and emotions that represent it.
When taking these pictures, I had themes in mind that were heavily centered around isolation and staying connected. How can someone be connected yet be so isolated? When you’re a teenager, one of the most important things is being social; when that is no longer accessible, you are obviously not happy. I also wanted to explore how technology has made it so easy to stay connected. Since everybody has had different experiences this year, I hope that people will put a personal twist on how these photos are perceived.
In conclusion, I hope that my photos were able to help you reflect back on your year, and offer a look into mine.
