Being a teenager in the 21st century is hard. People expect you to be an adult while they treat you like a child. All eyes are on you, watching you, judging you. As a teenager in the 21st century myself, I wanted to express our theme “Growing Pains” by focusing on what adults might think of teenagers while they are living their daily life. Researching this particular topic, I often found the words “rude, distracted, and reckless” connected to this particular age group, so I started looking for a way to portray these things. Using my cousins as the teenagers in the photo, I gave them prompts to follow so they looked more natural. I then edited the photos in photoshop to create digital looking thoughts of other people to portray what they thought of the teenagers in the photos.
Artist's Bio:
My name is Sarah Hunt and I am currently a student at Havergal College in grade 10. I've been at the school for 8 years and have always loved art class, so this year I decided to take media arts as well as visual art because I wanted to explore more than the traditional painting, drawing, and sculpting. I usually spend a lot of my free time reading and I'm part of a competitive volleyball team.
