This series of photos was created surrounding the central theme of school life during the lockdown of 2021. The photos show how school has been compacted and reduced during the months of lockdown. I want to do this theme because it is one of the bigger changes of school life and life in general for me during the Coronavirus pandemic. The title for my series of photos is "Adaptation", and I think this summarizes the photos well because we, as people living in the 21 century are constantly adapting to new situations whether it's social or political or environmental or technological changes, and the pandemic is definitely a major change that everyone has to adapt to.
When I first saw our group theme before it got a title, being a teenager in the 21st century immediately made me think of this year and last year when all the teenagers have to attend school physically, or online during the pandemic. For this year, my school has taken on a semester system, and for each course I have this semester, they prepared ahead of time and gave us all a kit in case of a lockdown. For visual art, there was the visual art kit with plenty of art supplies. For science, we got three individual bags, one for each unit. In media art, we received a similar kit as the visual art kit. And for math, we were given online textbooks and even the exam was done on zoom.
The photos are staged items in the environment where I learn and live. All four photos are taken with a phone camera and manipulated with photoshop. I did use some photos on unsplash.com and the photographer’s names are under the photo I used it in.

Artist Bio
Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m a grade 10 student at Havergal. Photography has always been an interest of mine, but I never really got the opportunity to explore or learn much about it. Last year, the com tech course I took introduced me to photoshop and other photo manipulating methods that I found very interesting. This year, I decided to continue learning about photography and photo manipulation through the media art course.
