Artist Statement: Having gone through this pandemic and being at home almost all day, every day, I have noticed changes in my daily routines and how I go through my daily life. There are of course positives and negatives to living at home, and with these photos, I hoped to show my reality of staying inside everyday. My work focuses on how my daily life looks in quarantine. I took photos of the area surrounding me throughout certain parts of the day to show the environment I have created for myself since quarantine began. I feel that many people have changed over quarantine in many ways, whether it’s finding themselves, caring a bit less, or discovering new things to enjoy, it is almost inevitable that people’s lives have changed. Since most students and people my age are learning from home, some people have difficulty adjusting and separating fun from schoolwork and balancing the mix of two large parts of their lives. Personally, it's difficult to find time to do schoolwork or be motivated since where I work now was almost entirely for relaxing or doing things I enjoy my entire life and the quick change was, and still is difficult to get used to . I also felt that photographing the literal and metaphorical mess everyone has experienced at least once in quarantine. The environment could also relate to the disarray the world has also faced this past year. Many issues in ourselves and the world around us have become present since we have much fewer things to distract ourselves with now and we have no choice but to think of them. The photos I took intended to show my surroundings and environment in quarantine, although this isn’t the case for everyone going through this pandemic, most people have experienced a lot of fast and unexpected change in their lives.

Bio:
My name is Avery, I am 15, I have lived in Toronto my entire life while playing volleyball and taking interest in art for most of my life. I began to get into photography when my sister had me take photos of her sports games, but I only recently got realy interested in it when lockdown hit, I originally began taking pictures of nature and flowers as a way to get out of the house but I ended up really enjoying it. Once I began taking the Media Arts course, I realized how much more thought and planning could go into photography and how I could incorperate my own ideas to create beautiful photos.
